McTimoney Chiropractic is a whole-body treatment.
"Patients will benefit if General Practitioners can consider referral to a physical therapist, who may be a physiotherapist, an osteopath or a chiropractor."
Clinical Standards Advisory Group. Committee On Back Pain. 1994.
"Drugs treat the symptoms. Chiropractic treats the cause."
Put very simply, chiropractic is a gentle, yet very effective way of adjusting the bones in your body to relieve pain and increase mobility. It can be used to treat a very wide range of problems - many of them seemingly nothing to do with your bones or spine.
Your spinal column is made up of moveable vertebrae and it houses the all-important spinal cord which passes information from your brain to the rest of your body.
If any part of your Spinal column is out of alignment, nerves may become impinged, compressed or stretched, causing pain, discomfort and reduced mobility. Information can no longer pass accurately to the rest of your body, leading to a whole variety of other aliments and problems.
As a McTimoney Chiropractor, Emma Bexson uses only her hands and a range of light, swift and dexterous techniques, unique to McTimoney, to make adjustments to your bones and spinal column.
All the adjustments are gentle, natural and safe. So safe that even newborn babies can be treated effectively.
The McTimoney method of Chiropractic is particularly gentle, using only low-force techniques and no instruments other than the practitioners hand. To an observer- and, indeed, the patient - McTimoney Chiropractic seems to be extremely light. However, the key to the success of these adjustments is the speed, dexterity and accuracy with which they are performed.
The whole Skeletal system is assessed at each visit. Particular attention is given to the pelvis, the knees and the feet as these carry most of the load. Arms, wrists and hands are also adjusted, together with the bones of the face and head.
